I enjoyed doing an interview recently with Ron Bakker, a Dutch-born, London-based architect whose varied portfolio includes The Edge in Amsterdam, dubbed the smartest office building in the world.
On arrival at the state-of-the-art office employees’ phone apps locate an available parking space; the electric cars are charged for free; a room with a sky view can be virtually booked for a client meeting; and the coffee machine automatically knows people’s orders. It all sounds rather futuristic (not least compared to my experience of working in no-frills, municipal office blocks over the years) but The Edge has been open, and receiving plaudits, since 2014.
This interview was for a profile piece in the upcoming issue of Property Report Magazine. Previous articles I have written include features such as the impact of Brexit on the luxury London property market
